Owners Karin Kiser and Jeff Sullivan have created a European-style wine sanctuary in the center of bustling downtown San Diego. The wine shop features an extensive selection of small production wines from California, Italy, and Spain, and a nice assortment of value wines priced under $20. You won’t find the wines they sell in grocery stores or discount wine retailers. Every wine on display is hand selected for its quality and uniqueness. You also won’t find store owners working the retail floor anywhere else in San Diego; the service, knowledge, and education provided by Karin and Jeff is as rare as their wines.
The Scene: Every detail of the room, from the gentle lighting to the rich wood carpentry, was designed and constructed by Jeff to enhance the peaceful, European style setting.
Inclusion worthy notes: Deals such as Thursday night Happy Hour, where you can sample 5 wines for just $5 until 8pm, and free corkage of their wines at partnering local restaurants, amount to great savings.

We went to Bacchus Wine Market when we were in San Diego visiting family to pick up some wine for dinner. First, it was a bit hard to find…there didn’t seem to be any signage outside on the building…just a sandwhich board on the street. But once we found it, and went downstairs, it was a great experience. I loved the layout (very open) and easy to browse and the staff was helpful too. I’d reccomend it for sure, I’d just give them a suggestion to add some more signage or open it up a bit to let people know where they are since it’s a great place.
